Founded in 1971, the UPM ranks among the top technical universities in Spain with its 3,000 teaching and research staff and over 40,000 students. The Madrid School of Mines (UPM) team will be headed by Professor Isabel Arribas (PhD. Geology),specialist in the genesis and economic assessment of metallic mineral deposits. Her PhD focused on the origin and economics of hydrothermal mineralization in the Hercynian Massif, the same host as for the majority of the Sn-W deposits of the Iberian Peninsula and rest of Europe. Working with colleagues at UPM, she will provide the expertise on the natural stock of metallic raw materials, their markets and price controls, the problems of supply and demand, and in general the challenges associated with the development of mining projects. .
