AGH UST is one of the most renowned Polish universities and a core partner of EIT Raw Ma-terials in the Eastern CLC, in a RIS country. The university educates nearly 33,500 students in 57 fields of study, consisting of 200 specializations at 16 faculties. Some 680 modern laboratories create research space for over 2,000 scientists, with solutions developed at the University applied in many branches of the industry, as evidenced by >100 patents and several dozen licenses obtained on a yearly basis. The scope of scientific research encompasses 8 subject areas: Information Technologies; New Materials and Technologies; the Environment and Climatic Changes; Energy and its Resources; Mining, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering; Exact and Natural Sciences; Socio‐Economic Sciences; and Humanities. The Faculty of Geology, Geophysics and Environment Protection of the AGH UST is one of the few faculties in Poland, which educates students of geology to become specialists in applied geology, geophysics and computer science, as well as in the environmental aspects of geological sciences and geotourism.
The Faculty of Geology, Geophysics and Environment Protection of the AGH UST has many decades of experience in the exploration and evaluation of mineral projects all over the world.
The main contractor on behalf of the AGH UST, Mariusz Krzak has a Ph.D. and an M.Sc. in economic geology from the AGH UST, where he currently holds the post of researcher and course lecturer. His interests center on the adaptation of mathematic models in mine management, decision making in mineral investment, and mineral exploration. He has been actively involved in the economic evaluation of different mineral projects. He is the author of over 50 refereed papers, four books, and an additional two dozen reports and geological maps. Part of the publications were related to the metals markets. Mariusz Krzak is a member of the Polish Association of Mineral Asset Valuators POLVAL.
