The Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) is the largest public institution dedicated to research in Spain and the third largest in Europe. The CSIC has 70 fully-owned institutes or centres distributed troughout Spain and 53 Joint Research Units with univerities or other R+D institutions. CSIC has considerable experience in developing R&D projects and training of research personnel.
The Earth Science group of the CSIC has a large experience in the exploration for minerals deposits, incluiding the geology, metallogeny, geochemistry, structure, and exploration geo-physics of a wide group of ore deposits, hosting W-Sn mineralization in Iberia and elsewhere. This research has been funded through several EU projects such as ProMine and GEODE, national projects and international initiatives. Our expertise also includes the use of several analytical facilities such as different types of spectrometers and electron microscopes. The CSIC has ample experience in the participation in and coordination of EU projects, with a spe-cial department dedicated to the support of this work. The CSIC has the full instrumentation for running the project, including all means for the geophysical tests and data processing, a Central Laboratory on Adcaned Microscopy (EPMA, SEM, X-Ray mapping), Stable and Radio-genic Isotope Units, LA ICPMS and portable Raman and PIMA equipments. The institutes of the CSIC will collaborate in the project is the Instituto de Geociencias (IGEO).
